Basic Requirements Needed to teach in Botswana

1. Requirements For Citizens (Government Jobs)

1. Education: Must have a bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed) or Diploma in Education or any field of subject.

2. Registration: Every teacher must have registered with the Botswana Ministry of  Education.

3. Documents: Prospective teacher must provide a certified copies of their academic certificates, transcripts and their national ID (Omang).

2. For Non-Citizens & Private Schools

All applicant must have a university or College degree in any field of subject they intend to teach, also with teaching qualifications such as TEFL for those teaching English. Although Bachelor’s degree (B.Ed) in Education is mostly required. All application must be submit to the Regional Education Office for assessment. Documents necessary for teachers includes: 

  • Permission to Teach Application form (PVTS I).
  • 3 passport-sized photos.
  • Cover letter.

  • Passport copy.

3. General Requirements
